2D displacement field

Conceptual model

This inverted displacement field is only a 2D (EW and UD) displacement field derived from Sentinel-1 images using 2 LOS displacements. Since other data was not available then and LOS direction is largely limited in the EW and UD directions, I assume no NS displacement was present in the LOS displacement and decomposed into a 2D displacement field. It is noted that there should be some NS displacement in this earthquake event.

Based on numerical model and the regional structures in Golshadi et al. (2022), a buried fault that didn't rupture to the surface was responsible for this seismic event and took place beneath an anticline. For such geologic setting, a simple conceptual model can be used to explain the deformation pattern as well as the above anticline. The anticline was uplifted and expanded laterally along its ridge. It is assumed that the anticline is a progressive topography which has experienced similar earthquake events many times.
